Pompon dahlias are closely related to ball dahlias, but they are considered distinct subcategories. The key difference lies in size and petal arrangement—pompon dahlias have a more uniform, tightly wound structure, giving them a compact, almost perfectly spherical look. Ball dahlias, while still rounded, tend to have a slightly looser arrangement with broader petal curvature.
