Begonia 'Superba Yellow' is an upright, double-flowered variety with large, ruffled blooms in a bright lemon-yellow hue. Blooming from late spring until frost, it thrives in partial shade to full shade and prefers rich, well-drained soil with consistent moisture. Growing 10 to 12 inches tall, its compact habit makes it ideal for containers, shaded borders, and garden beds. In colder climates, tubers should be lifted and stored indoors before winter to ensure a fresh display the following season.
Planting: Use a light, well-draining potting mix rich in organic matter. Plant tubers just below the surface with the concave side facing up.
Location: Prefers bright, indirect light or partial shade. Protect from intense midday sun to prevent leaf scorch.
Soil: Slightly acidic to neutral (pH 6.0–7.0), enriched with compost or peat moss.
Watering: Keep soil evenly moist but not soggy. Allow the top inch to dry slightly between waterings.
Humidity: Enjoys moderate to high humidity. Mist occasionally or use a humidity tray if grown indoors.
Temperature: Thrives between 60–75°F. Not frost-tolerant—bring indoors or lift tubers before first frost.
Fertilization: Feed every 2–4 weeks during the growing season with a balanced, diluted fertilizer.
Pruning: Remove spent blooms and yellowing leaves to encourage continuous flowering.
Pest & Disease: Watch for powdery mildew, botrytis, and pests like aphids or thrips. Ensure good air circulation and avoid overhead watering.
Overwintering: In colder zones, lift and store tubers in a cool, dry place once foliage dies back.
