Peony 'Sarah Bernhardt' is a beloved, award-winning variety introduced in 1906. It features large, 6–8 inch fully double, rose-pink blooms with delicately ruffled petals, occasionally flecked with raspberry. Standing up to 36 inches tall, its fragrant flowers rise above lush, deep green foliage that remains attractive throughout the season. Blooming in late spring to early summer, it thrives in full sun to part shade, preferring rich, well-drained soil. This long-lived perennial makes an excellent cut flower with a long vase life. Ideal for borders and mixed plantings, it has remained popular for over a century.

Growing and Maintenance Tips for Paeonia 'Sarah Bernhardt' (Ships in Spring)

Planting: Plant as early in spring as the soil can be worked—ideally before daytime temperatures consistently exceed 70°F. Set the crown 1 to 2 inches below the soil surface. Avoid planting too deep, as this can delay or prevent blooming.
Spacing: Space plants 2.5 to 3 feet apart to allow for mature spread and good air circulation.
Light: Full sun (6–8 hours daily) is best. In warmer zones, light afternoon shade can help reduce heat stress.
