We love the selection of bulbs available from A.D.R. The variety is great, the quality is excellent and the price is fair. However, the best part of working with A.D.R is the customer service from Chris, Walter and all of the team. They go out of their way to make sure ours needs are met.

Fritillaria meleagris Mix, commonly known as Checkered Lily, reaches 9 to 12 inches tall, featuring nodding, bell-shaped blooms in shades of deep purple, pink, and white. Each flower displays a distinctive checkered pattern, adding unique texture to the spring garden.
Ideal for naturalizing in woodlands, meadows, and shaded borders, this variety thrives in part shade and prefers humus-rich, well-drained soil that remains consistently moist. It is deer-resistant and vole-resistant, returning reliably year after year for a delicate yet striking seasonal display.

Planting: Plant bulbs in fall, 3 to 4 inches deep and 4 inches apart. Soak dry bulbs for a few hours before planting if they appear shriveled. Position bulbs on their side to prevent water from pooling in the crown.
Location: Prefers partial shade or dappled sunlight—ideal under deciduous trees or in woodland-style plantings.
Soil: Moist, humus-rich, well-drained soil with a neutral to slightly alkaline pH (6.5–7.5). Add compost or leaf mold to improve texture.
Watering: Keep soil moist during active growth in spring. Once foliage dies back, reduce watering—bulbs prefer dry summer dormancy.
Temperature: Hardy in USDA zones 4–8. Requires 10–14 weeks of cold to bloom reliably.
Fertilization: Apply compost or a balanced fertilizer in early spring as shoots emerge.
Pruning: Allow foliage to die back naturally to nourish the bulb. Remove spent flower stalks for tidiness.
Propagation: Naturalizes by seed and bulb offsets. Divide clumps in summer when dormant.
Pest & Disease: Generally pest-free. The bulbs emit a musky odor that deters rodents and deer.
